What’s Love Got To Do With It?
It seem that any type of food restaurant tastes so good but not as good as it being homemade. For me there isn’t any other food that tastes better than when my mom makes it. A lot of people say when they make a homemade dish that they made it with extra love. What they mean is that they added a special ingredient that makes it taste better and different from the rest.
Is It Just About The Job?
After Montag is reflecting what type of work a fireman has to do he doesn’t support it no more. It seems more difficult for Montag to deal with because he’s realizing how it affects the owners of the houses that are being burned down. Montag is trying to get the firemen to realize what they’re doing is wrong. His plan is to place a book inside the houses of the fireman and to burn it down. From my thoughts onto doing something that hurts someone it is not right to do, I would reject that order. An important value onto doing our job isn’t to do it for the money but for what you enjoy doing as a lifestyle.
Calling My Shot
For the essay based off Fahrenheit 451 I was worrying if I was going to have enough time to complete it. I wasn’t sure if the 45 minutes of class would be good enough to finish a 5 paragraph essay. Eventually 6th period came and I was excited to see how far I was able to finish. Overall I felt that I had done a good job and put enough explanations for the dynamic character and after all I had completed the 5 paragraphs.

Failing To Plan Is Planning to Fail
Montag and Fabre plan to put books inside other fire fighters houses and turn on the alarm so that they can feel how other people’s home get burned down and lose everything they had. They are trying to get the firemen to realize what they’re doing is wrong and that they should stop.
20 Questions
The assumptions that the reader can make about Montag is that he likes to see things get burned down into ashes. Also instead of trying to make the fire go away he provokes it.
After they had stopped their conversation Clarisse asks Montag how long he has been a firemen as if she knew him was just catching up. At first Montag takes it as a joke and starts to laugh but then realizes that Clarisse’s question has a point.
Three odd things that I’ve learned from Clarisse is that people are always watching tv and don’t have face to face conversation, they’re always home with the lights out so people think they’re not home and Leonard Mead from the Pedestrian is Clarisse’ uncle.

20 Questions
1. I think that Bradbury had chosen the first chapter to be “The Hearth and the Salamander” because he introduces the fire fighter Montag. He is the meaning for salamander and his home place is the hearth where the fire lays. The connection that he is making is based off the conflict between Montag and himself .
2. The guy Montag is a fire fighter who spends most of his time at fires watching things being burned down things while trying to control it make it stop.
3. The author might of chosen to characterize a fire hose as a “great python” because he is comparing how a python venom can keep someone getting worse and worse with the hose with wouldn’t help save the people and just keep causing the fire to grow. My thought is that his imagery is a negative thought because it isn’t helping to keep the fire out.
4. Montag’s firemen’s helmet has the number 451 on it because it symbolizes the degree at which book burn to.
5. Clarisse McClellan is first described as a slender and milk- white face almost as a pale surprise with dark eyes. She imitates Montag by the way she had been looking at him making him feel that she was waiting for him.
6. The names Clarisse and Guy are significant because they symbolize their they own personality and on how they act towards something or someone.

Breaking the Law
I think that it is wrong to break the law when it is based off something that puts other lives in danger. When it relates to fighting for what you think is good, that is a good cause to break the law.

So This Guy Goes For a Walk
Ray Bradbury had written a story called “The Pedestrian.” He had wrote this story based of a experience he had from getting stoped by a police officer for walking at night. The story tone seems to be autobiographical and mysterious because it’s odd to get pulled over for just walking and not doing nothing bad. It took place in his neighborhood sidewalk at a time around 8 in the evening. Leonard Mead wasn’t married but is an inocente person who is a writer.

On Self Reliance Essay
Everyone has a different thought towards something. As much as we agree or disagree there is always different perspectives on it. In the essay “On Self Reliance” by Ralp Waldo Emerson he explains how each individual has there own opinion and their own ways of explaining it. He also explains why we should care about our thoughts instead of what others think. Emerson’s tone, diction and syntax throughout the essay expresses his own opinion and thought based off his experience. His ideas can help me in my own life by learning to have confidence and trusting my beliefs.
“On Self Reliance,” Emerson expresses his thought of trusting yourself with powerful descriptions using tone, diction and syntax. His tone is what makes his essay more predominating. In the first paragraph he states “In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thought.” His statement says that all the work that we’ve done is the true meaning on what we believe. Diction is used throughout the essay; but in the beginning of the essay he says “ Ne te quaesiveris extra.” He uses English language but it was different form of literature when it was written. The quote is trying to say to not seek for things that you don’t usally go for. In the essay there are different forms that expresses his language in syntax. Emerson’s writing uses words that aren’t used in day today. Some of the words that he uses are contemporaries which stands for existing and another one is abide which means to keep going.
The ideas that Emerson explains can help me by caring more for my own thoughts. His ideas will help me in life right now and in the future to take more seriously my thoughts. In paragraph 16 it says “Act singly, and what you have already done singly will justify you now.” This quote is saying to be individual and your work will show how you achieve. From what Emerson said it connects on to how you want to be presented and on how hard you want to work.
Therefore it is best to follow your own thoughts to achieve on what is yours. You’ll also won’t need to relie on others opinions because we all don’t have the same thinking. Lastly, it is best to show what you know to be able to describe your level of creativity.

What I learned today about Self-Reliance
Emerson essay expresses his believe by saying that children and babies are in charge of running other peoples lives. Adults listen more to younger kids or babies because they can start to cry and not stop until they get what they want. People also have different ways of thinking and on having an opinion based off their perspective.

Same Words Different People
While the conversation I had with my friend based off the meaning onto our vocabulary I learned that there are different meaning they use to describe a word. My friend said that the definition for meme can also be a picture that can go viral. A second meaning I learned about virus from my friend is that it can block you from entering your device.
Young Goodman Brown & Dream Within a Dream Essay
When we’re asleep and dreaming of an endless moment it’s just temporary fantasy that suddenly fades away. In the story of “Young Goodman Brown,” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, he shows how a dream can take power over your mind. The poem “A Dream Within A Dream,” by Edgar Allan Poe describes how dreams can be made up of anything, good or bad, but it soon fades away because it isn’t real, it’s our imagination. From the poem and story it’s based off how a dream can change your way of thinking. But both stories have a different meaning towards their dreams.
Dreams can overcome your thoughts towards anything. In “Young Goodman Brown” Brown had gone into the forest and then a figure appears and started talking to him about his family which lead him to loose faith and trust. In paragraph 15 the figure of a person said “ I helped your grandfather, the constable, when he lashed the Quaker woman so smartly through the streets of Salem.” As the figure of the person had told Brown this information about his grandfather he couldn’t think of any reason onto how a stranger knows certain information about his family. In paragraph 19 and 20 Brown says “ there is my wife, Faith. It would break her dear little heart; and I’d rather break my own! Nay if that be the case, answered the other, e’en go thy ways, Goodman Brown.” From this text it’s shows the trust that Brown has in the person that he had berly meet instead of his own thought. Due to the confidence that Brown shows towards the person it means that he would believe and do what he says.
Our dreams is a form of experience based off our emotions and what we want ourselves to think. In the poem “A Dream Within a Dream,” the author Edgar Allan Poe describes how a dream can be hard to remember like trying to hold sand in the palm of your hand. On line 6-9 it says “ Yet if hope has flown away, In night, or in a day, In vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone?” The quote is say that it doesn’t matter the time of how your dream happened or how it did are you still able to remember everything thing? Also on lines 14-16 it says “ And I hold within my hand, Grains of the golden sand- How few! yet how they creep.” From the quote the author is comparing how hard it is to keep the same amount of sand in your hand without it falling off with trying to remember what your whole dream was exactly about. Stating what the poem ment is that dreams can’t be fully remembered.
Dreams are a way to imagine what we want but won’t be able remember because it was our imagination. As hard as it can seem to remember what really happened it was just a period of time where we used our thoughts. Therefore both poems have similarities meanings but different descriptions onto perusing there point.

Letter to a mentor draft
Dear Life Science Contributor Stephanie Papas,
I really found your article “Why do we Sleep?” interesting. It got to my attention that no sleep can change people’s attitudes. Do people get sick if they don’t sleep the hours required? What I think is that people who sleep less than they’re supposed to don’t have the same thinking and are always drowsy. My big question about sleep that I have is why is sleep needed?
Sincerely,
Yaraldi Garcia

Response to “A Dream Within a Dream”
Dreams can be made up of anything, good or bad, but it soon fades away because it wasn’t real and was all made up of imagination in your sleep. In this poem I’ve learned that a dream can be hard to remember. The poem says “In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem.” It is saying that most likely you are to remember your dream the second you wake up but when you are trying to remember not all of it comes to mind.
Reflection of Young Goodman Brown
Throughout reading the ending of “Young Goodman Brown” Brown has lost his faith from seeing the pink ribbon fall down from a tree. Once the pink ribbon fell Brown had noticed that his wife Faith was nowhere to been seen. My overall thought of the whole story is that faith can show your strength and possibilities but loosing faith can leave you cofused and not trying hard on anything.

Response on Young Goodman Brown
Today in class we had started to read where we had left off in the story of Young Goodman Brown. From what we’ve read so far Brown doesn’t want to let go of his faith. The shadow that was walking and talking to Brown was leading him to an evil ceremony. He was leading Brown towards a ceremony to invite him in to join. During the reading with the class I’ve also learned new definitions to some of the vocabulary words in the story that I didn’t quite understand.

Young Goodman Brown Questions
A: I think that Hawthorne’s purpose to this story was to show how a thought can change who you are and become a whole different person.
A: I do agree that the meaning of faith fits her name. Faith is what protected Brown from the bad. Brown’s wife Faith probably has a prescient when something bad is going to happen, her personality shows that she cares for Brown and wants him in no danger. It seem that Brown does have true faith in her because he would listen and obey to Faith when she would send him off.
A: I think that the pink ribbons signify the faith that connects between Faith and Brown. It could be a special object that can symbolize their marriage.
A: Everything that Brown would witness wasn’t real it was all a dream. It was a figment of something conjured by the evil. In the story Brown had thought that he knew it was a bad spirit. “Brown felt himself justified in making more haste on his present evil purpose. ”
A: I think that the old many was the bad spirit or could be the devil. From the point that Brown saw the figure of the old man, till walking and talking with him throughout the forest everything had seen weird and with a bad impression. The old man knew information that Brown hasn’t shared about to basically anyone and the old man knew it.
A: The staff represents the bad that haunts Brown. I do think the staff leads Brown onward to his conscience of mind because they old man knew information about Brown which made him think that everything he’ll talk about is true
A: If Brown hadn’t walked into the forest his life would of beeen different. It would be different because he wouldn’t act differently as he does now and still have trust towards the townspeople an his wife. Brown would of probably still have Faith because it shows a chance or hope to not be in danger.

Here’s what I learned Today
Today in class I’ve learn how much you can post on your blogs and it still won’t seem like if it were a lot. Even thought I just started to blog it seem that I know how to use it in evey way. I learned that blogging can help in many sorts of ways for example posting your thoughts and opinions. I’ve also learned today that as I write more and more journals I think about the topic more with details and expand my writing skills.
Early American Literature
The Colonial literature was written by a church or government. The church’s or government that had created the American literature where a small group of people. They would not allow that there where mistakes if there were they would threaten them. It had started off being used as oral tradition.
Today I was Thinking
Today in class I had started off by writing my journal. My journal was based off how the words we choose make an impression of who we are. Your personality can define who we are and our personal traits. I started to think why people act the way the do such in a good way or a bad way. From my point of view it seems that some people would act differently to make someone think who they are. Do you think that most people are defined by their vocabulary of speaking?
GSD
My experience as an independent student can be alright from what I’ve done. I tend to stay up late finishing up homework that I could of done before and I still manage to turn it in most of the times. But on the other hand I am a very organized person, organization helps me manage what I need and what the most important thing i need to do first. I use my agenda everyday for any purpose related to school from what I did in class to what was homework. If I get confused and don’t understand how to do something I ask my peers for help first and if they also don’t understand I’ll ask the teacher.
Week in Review
In review of this week I’ve learned what tone is. Tone defines the attitude of the author towards the character and toward the reader. Tone can be used in description, syntax, diction, characteristic, imagery and figurative language.

Was it only a Dream?
From what I know about the ending of the story of “Young Goodman Brown “ the character Goodman Brown woke up from a dream. He had waken up not knowing what was going on and overthinking like if he wasn’t in his own body. On my perspective I think that Goodman Brown wasn’t himself, his mind was controlled by someone else. In the story it talks about figure of a person from the forest that was approaching him, probably the figure was a bad spirit and got to his head and made him believe what it wanted him to know.
Young Goodman Brown
The story of “Young Goodman Brown” is so far about two people. The two people in the story is a couple, a man named Goodman Brown and his wife named Faith. His wife is pushing him away but her husband doesn’t understand why. It seem that his wife’s named has a special meaning behind it. As Goodman Brown left and walked into a sketchy forest he has a bad impression of being there. His wife’s faith would hold him back from getting closer to what can be a bad figure of a man in the forest.
The Making of an Essay
During the making of my essay “The Conscience of a Hacker” it had been going alright but I’ll still struggle with some parts of it. I didn’t knew if I was setting everything up the way it had to but I was able to put everything up together till it made sense to me. At one point I had stoped to reread what I had down but I would struggle to find evidence from the story to support my thesis. Overall it took me a long time but I was able to finish it and learned that I had to reread the story a few more times to understand the authors perspective.
“Conscience of a Hacker” essay
Computers nowadays is a way of helping you explore any curious thoughts. But can your thoughts define you as a criminal? In this story “The Conscience of a Hacker” by The Mentor, he explains how students life have improved just by using technology. Technology has also change the way that students think on something curious. The Mentor also shows us how his writing style is written in this story.
Technology have been improving students lifestyles. The Mentor says “I found a computer. Wait a second this is cool. It does what I want it to do.” (paragraph 5). His quote is showing his reaction or experience when he had first used a computer. In paragraph 6 he says “a door opened to a world..rushing through the phone line like heroin through addict’s veins.” His words mean that when technology was introduced a lot of people found different ways to adapt to how they’re being used. Technology has been worldwide and is use almost all around the world. Students have improved in their learning ability by looking up more information that can help them understand any lesson or topic.
Students are very curious to learn about anything and to search something up they go on the internet or on computers. Teachers tend to not believe students because they think that they can cheat by searching up the answer. On the fourth paragraph it says “I understand it. "No, Ms. Smith, I didn’t show my work. I did it in my head..” Damn kid. Probably copied it. There’re all alike.” The author also says in paragraph 9 “We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn’t run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore...and you call us criminals.” His meaning of this quote is based off how anyone uses technology mostly ever day and teachers or anyone in particular can judge by what they’re searching, like adults can call it hacking when it’s basically not. As society changes kids learn more on how to run computers because of how fascinating it is to know or to find anything.
The Mentor shows us how his writing style defines his character personality. In his writing it shows what his tone is on how teachers or anyone thinks of someone’s personal traits. In paragraph 9 the Mentor says “This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn’t run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore ... and you call us criminals.” In this quote he’s expressing how anyone can be anything good or bad they’ll still be judge by someone else. He also shows in paragraph 11 that “I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can’t stop us all.. after all, we’re all alike.” In his tone you can tell that everyone is the same and that they can’t change who they are.
In conclusion to “The Conscience of a Hacker” technology has changed peoples thinking but can’t change who they are. People have become more intelligent learners because they have adapted to this new generation. Curiosity has improved the way how anyone is able to figure out what they’re thinking in any form. People’s tones are express based on the was they see something in their opinion.

“Earth On Turtle’s Back” Response
In the story of “Earth on Turtle’s Back” it shows how motivated and striving someone is and they never give up on their goal. The character Muskrat showed how she never gave up. She was small, but that didn’t get in her way and achieved it. This shows that size or height doesn’t matter if your short or tall everyone is capable of their own strengths.

How I Learn
My routines on learning is organization, calendars, and studying my notes. Organization is one of my key routines because it helps me know where all my work for my classes are and help me understand more what we’ve learned. My calendar is a tool that helps me write down important events or dates also used for writing my homework down and staying organized. How I remember all of the important information that I’ve learned is by write them down in notes, they are very useful when it comes to studying for a test and to revise what I don’t understand well.

Right To Your Opinion
In the article “Right to your Opinion” it states how we think that our opinion matters but it really doesn’t. I agree to this article because each person truly believes in only their opinion. Some people might agree to what you think is correct but others might disagree. Many people have different ways of thinking and what they like or don’t like. Therefore your opinion is what you believe about anything.
Reflection on Richard Cory
When I memorized the poem “Richard Cory” I started to think about it differently. I thought about why he might have killed himself, and I thought about how the poem relates to my life today. It seems like nowadays any comment that people hear about themselves hurts them. Hurting someone’s feelings can cause them to suicide. People might be talking about someone else without know them or what they might be going thru.

The Socratic Method
In the article “The Socratic Method” I believe that it’s the best tool to understand a reading. This method doesn’t only give you a chance to understand a topic but to further your point on a story, article, etc. Asking questions highers the way you argue about any type of topic. Therefore the Socratic Method is a way to guide you to expand your reasoning.
